Abstract
This chapter discusses the work of UNCITRAL in the field of insolvency. It considers the form of instruments that have been developed in this area, in particular the usage of a ‘legislative guide’ and ‘model laws’, and the implications of this choice on compliance, adoption, standardisation, and cooperation. It provides an overview of issues of insolvency that have been addressed so far internationally by UNCITRAL, focusing in particular on the contribution to enterprise cross-border insolvency law, considering as well to what extent the work is complete, and where the challenges are going forward.
