Abstract
Ultrasonic shear waves have been used to estimate the degree of anisotropy present within roll-drawn polypropylene samples, using shear wave birefringence. These measurements have been correlated with the draw ratio used during manufacture. It is shown that the technique has promise as a monitoring tool for this material.
