Abstract
In-situ small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) experiments were carried out to investigate the changes in morphology and size distribution of precipitates in a cold rolled steel strip sample. SAXS experiments were performed using high energy synchrotron beam in combination with a high temperature furnace at I22 beamline, Diamond Light Source, UK. The X-ray energy of 18KeV is used with a scan exposure time of 20 seconds. The intensity data was collected at every 50°C interval during heating from 550°C to 1200°C. The precipitate parameters such average size, shape, number density and volume of precipitates were evaluated as a function of temperature and these results will be presented and discussed. Further, thermocalc calculations and TEM characterisations were also performed to interpret and substantiate the results obtained from SAXS intensity measurements.
